Dino Birthday for AHSC # 355

We've had some bad weather overnight, but I was able to get up early this morning while the kids slept in(snow day) to create for this week's sketch.  I work better under pressure.

Having kids means that I'm always in need of birthday cards....there always seems to be an invitation coming home for another classmates birthday.

I thought that this weeks sketch would allow me to create the same card again easily when in a pinch.

Here is my take on sketch # 355 for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

No automatic alt text available.

This month we have approximately 26 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

I decided to make a birthday invitation using this month's stamp set.  I really love Peacock and Lagoon together, and so I paired them up for the invitation.  I started with a Peacock cardstock for the base and the mat for the sentiment.  I created a background paper using another stamp, stamped in 2nd generation Peacock in, and matted that with Lagoon cardstock.  The sentiment, Super Birthday Party is stamped in Lagoon ink, and I doodled around the edges.  I used some left over(retired) blue enamels for embellishment.

I didn't have a chance to finish the inside of the invitation, my family is under the attach of a flu bug.  I will add the inside in another post.

Now "Hop" on over to Catherine Nowak's blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Remember, the Month SOTM is only available until Month 30th!  Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount!

A Halloween Birthday times 2

I am a very lucky person to still have 1 of my grandparents alive.  My nanny is my rock, and as a child it was my favorite place to visit in the summer.

Every morning I would have coffee and toast with her, and we would bake pies or bread(something I haven't conquered without my bread maker machine)!

My nanny was born on Halloween, but what is better than that is that she has a twin sister.  Do you know how hard it is to find a birthday card for a Halloween birthday?  Or for a twin sister?

So, that is where I come in!  I made my nanny a card to send to her sister, Edna in Ontario.

I used our colour of year cardstock, Bashful, and the new Rose Embossing Folder to create the base of this card.  I highlighted the design using the gold shimmer brush.  Using my piercing tool I added a stitched design to the matted sentiment.

I also embossed the flap of the envelope through the Rose embossing folder.  I have a few coloured envelopes in my possession from Paper Garden, and I was lucky enough to have a 5x7 that was almost an exact match to our Bashful.

For the inside sentiment, I wanted it to be fun, so I stamped the Happy Halloween, Happy Birthday sentiment from the Just to Say stamp set, the the Twin Sister is stamped from the Curlicue Alphabet stamp set, both are from the Artfully Sent Cricut Collection.

I hope you enjoyed my Halloween/Birthday card.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop, and it so happens that I am the first stop moving from East to West. If you came from Kristine then you are in the correct place!

For my projects I decided I would use this cute stamp set, Monstrous Halloween (C1652) to create my creations for tonights blog hop.  What is great about this stamp set is that it has coordinating Thin Cuts that cut the monster shapes out for me.  No fussy cutting here.

This first card I used the Jeepers Creepers Lighting paper, both sides to create this fun Halloween card.  I used 2 new colors, Pansy and Raspberry.  I really thought it needed a little something else, so I added googly eyes to my monster.

This second card is a birthday themed card, and I used the colors found in the paper collection Jeepers Creepers.  The sentiment is stamped in Tangerine and monsters are in Willow and Lagoon.  The candy is Pansy and Raspberry.

My last project is a bag topper for Halloween treats that I will send to my children's classrooms.  I continued the colors onto this also,

Your next stop on the Cross Canada Hop is Nicky.

Happy Birthday Card from AHSC

I am always in need of brithday cards, how about you?  Everytime I blink it seems I need a birthday card.  Either the children are being invited to a kids party, family or friends are having birthdays, or my husband will ask for one for a co-worker.  It just seems like when I go looking for one, I'm all out. So my mission now is to try to create lots of quick and simple birthday cards to have as my go-to cards.

Here is this week's sketch:

I went digging through my scraps and pre-cut files to see what I could use up from my extras that I have colored and cut for other creations and put everything together.  This card is what I came up with.

I hope you will now take a few minutes and head over to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and see what our design team has created to inspire you.

Free To Be Me Blog Hop - National Scrapbooking Month

Welcome to our Blog Hop featuring the Promotional Paper Packet Free To Me Be!  This paper packet is available only during the Month of May for National Scrapbooking Month.  If you have come here from the amazing creations on Jody Gustafson's Blog , you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here .

This month we have approximately 20 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this amazing Paper Packet and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

My first photo is showcasing some Birthday cards (I can never have enough of these), so I made a set of 5 to have on hand.  I used a pattern found in the Originals How to Book,
Balance it out found on pg 102.  I love how quickly this cards came together.  Besides the paper found in this paper pack, I used Lagoon CS for the mat, and White Daisy to stamp my sentiment from.  The sentiment comes from Joyful Birthday(B1419), and is stamped in Lagoon Ink.  I then added some Aqua Dots to finish the card.

My second photo is showing a super fun card that was featured on one of Artbooking Videos because we use the overlay found on page 61 and sized it to 5 1/4" for this 6x6 card.  I then used the overlay to create a stencil so that I could see exactly where to lay my paper pieces.  The overlay and paper pieces are matted on a piece of Lagoon CS before being adhered to the card.  Then I cut a 2x2" square of White Daisy to stamp the sentiment found on the stamp set Inspirational Flourishes(C1581) which is stamped in Ruby Ink.

Now "Hop" on over to Nikka Geers Blog to see her  incredible work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Remember, this paper is only available until the end of May!  Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to purchase this paper packet.

Term 2 with AHSC, Sketch #41 Happy Birthday

So, I was playing around with this sketch for awhile, and I really had some issues with some of my creations.  I finally have one that I'm happy enough to share.  I kept this very clean and simple, just using Black and White for my colors.

Here is the sketch:
I'd really like to know what you think of my creation.  I used the Love Doily(B1418) once again, and stamped it on White Daisy CS using Black ink.  Then I used Holiday Tags(D1560) which has tags and sentiments. The tags coordinate with cuts found on our cricut cartridges.  I cut the matching shape out twice, once in Black 1/4 larger than the piece in White Daisy to give it a mat, then stamped the tag shape and the sentiment in black.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you stop by Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to check out what creations our Design Team has provided, plus you'll get to see some creations from our new Design Team members.

Can never have enough Birthday Cards AHSC #32

So here is my story.....my oldest daughter, Jaymee, has been invited to yet another birthday party, actually she has 2 coming up this weekend.  On Saturday, Jaymee went looking through my birthday card stash to discover that I didn't have very many girly birthday cards.  So, Jaymee and I dug through my hoard of paper, and she choose what she liked, and I decided to use this weeks sketch for the design.

Here is the sketch:
Here is the card:
For this card, which came together in about 5 mins, we stamped the sentiment in Ruby on White Daisy CS, which is matted on Cotton Candy CS.  Using a strip of Pear Chantilly pattern ontop of Sunset CS and the bold print of Chantilly paper.  Boom!  5 minute birthday card.  The bonus is too, that Jaymee is super excited, because I let her put this one together.  So really I can't take credit for the card, but the sketch is all mine.

I hope you enjoyed this card, and will take the time to visit our Sketch Challenge and check out the Design Team's creations.  Click here to see the entrants so far this week.

Sketch #26 and a Birthday card for my Nan

Killing 2 birds with one stone this week.  My nan's birthday is coming up next week, actually it falls on Halloween....and if that isn't cool enough, she has s twin sister....

Anyway, I have chosen to make a birthday card using the Frosted paper and I really like how it turned out.

Here is the sketch:

I actually didn't follow my own sketch right to a tee this time......I didn't like the sentiment below the ribbon, so I placed it above and liked how it looked much better.  Here is my finished project.

I really like the look of Twilight and Crystal Blue with the frosted paper, and blue just happens to be my favourite colour.
Here are a few close-ups of the flowers and ribbons....just so you can see the dimension of the flowers.

Supplies:

Card Chatter- Birthday (D1475)
You Only Live Once (B1434)
Love This (B1432)
Swirls Around (D1551)
Twilight Ink and Alcohol Marker
Crystal Blue Ink and Alcohol Marker
Buttercup Alcohol Marker
Frosted Paper Packet
Colour Ready Seam Binding Ribbon(Died Twilight using Alcohol Marker)

If you like my creation, why not pop on over to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and grab some inspiration from our Design Team.

If you want to purchase any of the supplies you seen in this creation, listed above, you can shop on my website here.

I've also entered this card into the Color My Heart Color Dare for this week.

Happy Birthday with Laughing Lola

I made this card especially for the challenge over at Color My Heart.  We are on Color Dare #55, use Laughing Lola Gold, Blue and Purple.

I decided to use CTMH New Spin Cards(Z1866) and some of the Laughing Lola Assortment(Z1854) to finish it off.
The Plaid paper is cut at 4 3/4" x 6 3/4", and then the Paisley paper is cut at 3 1/2" x 5".  The square cut out is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" and I used that piece to give the sentiment a background.  I then used a 3/4" strip of the Snake Print and used our new scallop punch to create the boarder.  The happy birthday sentiment is stamped directly on the spinner piece, and then I stamped it a second time on the snake print paper, and trimmed it out.  Then paper pieced it onto the spinner.

As you can see, when you open the card, the Happy Birthday sentiment spins, so it is on the inside of the card.

To purchase any of the items I have used here, you can shop here, or with your local consultant.

Happy Birthday with Stella and Sketch #13 at AHSC

It's time for another card from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I am having so much fun, it is really great, we have an amazing design team, which has crossed the ocean.  Yep one of our design team members is from Sweden.  How cool it that?  We've had entrants all over Canada and the United States, and a few from the UK.
The artwork that has been displayed on our blog each week is phenomenal.  So here is the sketch #13:

You can find the post here, as well as the artwork submitted by all the entrants through out the week.

For my card I used Stella(retired), I wanted to keep it very subtle.  I liked the patterns in this paper and the colors.  So I layered them and stamped Happy Birthday from the Joyful Birthday Stamp set in Saddle.  Then using the paper flowers, I colored them with Autumn Terracotta, Lagoon, and Sorbet Alcohol Markers.  To finish the card I took some twine from the Harvest Assortement and a button that I had left over from somewhere else.

I hope you enjoyed my card, and to find the rest of the Design Teams creations, just click here.

Card for Color My Heart Challenge

Today I decided that I would enter another challenge other than creating for my own.  Over at Color My Heart their challenge is to use Desert Sand and Bamboo as the neutral colours, then to choose 1 other non-neutral colour.  I chose Outdoor Denim as my colour.

I started with just the White Daisy Card Base, then chose the Desert Sand as my mat.  Stamping using Outdoor Denim Ink, I took 4 images from the Stamp Set Card Word Puzzle and stamped them at random on the piece of Bamboo.  Then I cut a piece of Outdoor Denim for a mat, and a piece of Desert Sand to stamp my sentiment Happy Birthday from the Joyful Birthday Stamp Set in Outdoor Denim.  The Sentiment is popped using 3D Foam Tape.  I hope you like my entry.

Birthday Card for Sketch #11/sneak peak at Laughing Lola

Over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, I've created another fun sketch for you to get creative with.  Here is the sketch:

I decided to use Laughing Lola for this card, as it is a really fun print.  I used White Daisy for my card base, and then as my mat I used Gypsy CS.  I used 2 pieces of Laughing Lola, a piece of Lagoon CS and a piece of Black CS.  The ribbon is CTMH Seam Binding Color Ready Ribbon, and I used Lagoon and Gypsy Alcohol Markers to dye the ribbon.

The sentiment is stamped in Gypsy Pigment Ink, and then colored in with Lagoon Alcohol Markers on White Daisy CS, and layers on Black CS.  The sentiment is one of CTMH's new M sized stamps, Heartfelt Birthday Wishes.

Sketch #2 - Happy Birthday Card

So, we are now into our second week of our Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Darla and I are so excited to have so many entries in our first week.

Our Top 3 picks are announced this morning, and can be found HERE.

So withour further ado, here is my creation using Sketch #2.
I used a super cute Embossing Folder on the Hollyhock Cardstock which is attached to a white cardbase distressed in Olive and Hollyhock ink.  Then using Cranberry and Olive Ink I sponged using the Sponge Daubers over the flowers and vines.  Then using Cranberry Alcohol Markers I colored the flowers to give them a deeper color.   The band is Black Cardstock as well as the mat under the sentiment.   The Sentiment is from the Joyful Birthday Stamp Set and is stamped in Black ink.  The Frame is stamped in Hollyhock and is from Frame Flair.  Then I used 2 small black Brads to the sentiment.

Making cards with Avonlea

So over the holidays, I had a couple of birthdays in the mix that used up my birthday cards.  So over the weekend I made a few to replenish them.

I also have to make some children's birthday cards, as I used up a good chuck of those over the past few months.  I actually had to rush make one for a party that we attended a few weeks ago.

But the cards I'm featuring today are made using the paper from Avonlea.

These 2 designs were taken from the How-to Publication Wishes. The card on the left is called Delightful Dots, and the second card is called Sentiment Secured.  I changed up the layout of the cards just a little, and I added just a little embellishment to add to the simple designs.
