A Halloween Birthday times 2

I am a very lucky person to still have 1 of my grandparents alive.  My nanny is my rock, and as a child it was my favorite place to visit in the summer.

Every morning I would have coffee and toast with her, and we would bake pies or bread(something I haven't conquered without my bread maker machine)!

My nanny was born on Halloween, but what is better than that is that she has a twin sister.  Do you know how hard it is to find a birthday card for a Halloween birthday?  Or for a twin sister?

So, that is where I come in!  I made my nanny a card to send to her sister, Edna in Ontario.

I used our colour of year cardstock, Bashful, and the new Rose Embossing Folder to create the base of this card.  I highlighted the design using the gold shimmer brush.  Using my piercing tool I added a stitched design to the matted sentiment.

I also embossed the flap of the envelope through the Rose embossing folder.  I have a few coloured envelopes in my possession from Paper Garden, and I was lucky enough to have a 5x7 that was almost an exact match to our Bashful.

For the inside sentiment, I wanted it to be fun, so I stamped the Happy Halloween, Happy Birthday sentiment from the Just to Say stamp set, the the Twin Sister is stamped from the Curlicue Alphabet stamp set, both are from the Artfully Sent Cricut Collection.

I hope you enjoyed my Halloween/Birthday card.

For my projects I decided I would use this cute stamp set, Monstrous Halloween (C1652) to create my creations for tonights blog hop.  What is great about this stamp set is that it has coordinating Thin Cuts that cut the monster shapes out for me.  No fussy cutting here.

This first card I used the Jeepers Creepers Lighting paper, both sides to create this fun Halloween card.  I used 2 new colors, Pansy and Raspberry.  I really thought it needed a little something else, so I added googly eyes to my monster.

This second card is a birthday themed card, and I used the colors found in the paper collection Jeepers Creepers.  The sentiment is stamped in Tangerine and monsters are in Willow and Lagoon.  The candy is Pansy and Raspberry.

My last project is a bag topper for Halloween treats that I will send to my children's classrooms.  I continued the colors onto this also,

want to follow us across Canada then please start at the beginning and join Julie at
12 x12 Travels. If you came from Deanne's Blog My Little Piece of the Puzzle then you are in the right place!

I made a couple of fun projects using the Scaredy Cat Paper.  Pencil toppers for treats for my kids classrooms at school, a fun pop-up scene card from the Artfully Sent Cartridge and a cute little pinecone decoration.

These cute pencil toppers are featured in the catalog found on page 41. I used the Frightfully Fun Stamp set(B1453) and the Shinhan Alcohol Markers.  I added googly eyes to the bat and the owl to add some fun.  The cuts came from the Artiste Cartridge and were cut at 3 different sizes, 1 3/4", 2" and 2 1/4".

This card was so much fun to cut and put together.  It is reccommended to be cut at 5x7, but I was able to manipulate the size on my Cricut Explore to make it an A2 card.( 4 1/4" x 5 1/2").  I used black cardstock for the base and the inside is cut using Whisper cardstock. I backed the ghost cutouts with White Daisy cardstock, and the moon with Honey Cardstock.  The haunted mansion is cut in Black, and the spooky tree and tombstone cut in Chocolate Cardstock.

The front of the card is another cut found from the Artfully Sent cartridge, it is a pocket card.  I layered the purple shimmer trim under the chevron cut, and cut the Treat or Trick from the Artiste cartridge.

The pinecone is a 2" syrofoam egg, and I used Scaredy Cat paper cut into squares at 2 sizes, 3/4" and 1".  I started with the smaller squares at the bottom, and at about half way I switched to the larger squares.  All you have to do is fold the one side to form a point and work your way around the egg creating layers. You will have also seen this pinecones featured in the catalog found on pages 24 & 25 using the Pathfinding Paper.

Your next stop on the Cross Canada Hop is Nicky of Timeless Cottage.

What A Hoot SOTM Blog Hop - August/14

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop featuring August's SOTM, What a Hoot, a set of 17 stamps.  This is the first hop featuring product from the newest Close To My Heart catalogue, Annual Inspirations. If you have come here from the creative Melinda's Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here.

This month we have approximately 67 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

I've decided to use this stamp set to create treats for my kids classes for Halloween 'Owloween.  This fall I have 2 kids in school, and need to make twice as many goodies.  The treat tube was fun to put together, and I had some of the boxes from a previous campaign and scanned one and created my own file in Explore to cut the box out to hold the tube.  It is filled with purple and black jelly beans.  I used Black Pigment Ink to stamp all the images and heat set them before colouring.  I used the ShinHan Touch Twin Markers to colour them in.  The second treat is a bag topper, which is just a 3x5 piece of White Daisy CS scored at 2.5" and folded over and stapled to the bag.

Marker colours used:
Warm Grey WG7
Warm Grey WG4
Marigold YR24
G46 Vivid Green
P83 Lavender

Now "Hop" on over to Alyson's Blog to see her fabulously creative work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Remember, August's SOTM is only available until the 31st!  Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount or even free!
