Today is Christmas Day, and you would think that I would be showing you a Christmas card, but no, not this time.  Today I'm showing you a Birthday card.

I don't have a lot of time to write a post as I still have tons to do before Christmas morning.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

Wishing you a Merry Christmas with AHSC #34

Well, all my cards that I've made so far are in the mail, and I've had to make a few more special ones that I hand out.  I thought, hey what better way than to incorporate this week's sketch into my remaining cards.

So here is the sketch:

Here is my Christmas card:

I started with a mat of Slate CS, and layered this fun ornament design paper from the Sparkle & Shine Paper Packet.  I had already cut lots of the shapes that coordinate with the Santa Claus Stamp Set, so that part was super easy, then I drew on the mat for the sentiment, and 3D foam popped the sentiment.  Using a little bling from a retired collection and the flower from the Red Medley was able to finish it off with flair.

So, now that you've checked out my card, hop on over to the AHSC and check out the creations from our amazing Design Team.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop and I am the first stop on this blog hop so you are in the right stop.  If you came from Candra's blog, Paper Dragon Fleur then you are in the right place!

For this project which I have collaborated with my downline, and good friend Lisa, we took glass blocks and drilled a hole in the side, and stuffed a set of white lights inside.  Then taking some pigment inks stamped the images and sentiment on the block.  Taking markers we then colored in the images.  To finish off the block, we stamped lots of random snowflakes from various stamp sets with the White Pigment Ink.  Then we wrapped some Christmas Ribbon around the block and made a loopy bow to dress it all up.

This glass block is overlaid with a piece of Red Vinyl cut with the sentiment Merry Christmas.  I didn't use any CTMH product for this one, but wanted to show it, as the Artbooking has alot of great overlays that would work perfect for this.

Your next stop on the Cross Canada Hop is Carol of Crafty Carol's Place.
If you get lost along the way, I've provided the entire blog hop list is featured here.

Blue is my favorite color......Sketch #33

Oh my, we are at Sketch #33 over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  We've been having so much fun creating new designs, some were more challenging than others, even for me.

I've recently returned to work part-time, 3 evening shifts a week, and it is really doing a number on me.  I haven't even wrapped a Christmas gift yet, let alone finish my shopping, I have stocking stuffers left and the gifts for the parents......through on top of that, Jaymee has another birthday party this Saturday, which makes 3 parties in 8 days.

I did start my holiday baking though, I made 95 Peanut Butter Balls yesterday, and hoping to make my Oreo Truffles today.....fingers crossed, as I already have tons to do with my regular household chores, and then getting the kids cleaned up for Jaymee's school Christmas Concert.

Enough rambling about the goings on in my house, here is this week's sketch:

    Here is my creation:

I started with a White Cardbase, added Outdoor Denim as my card front.  I stamped the flower image from Card Word Puzzle Stamp set randomly over the White Daisy CS and colored it in with Indian Corn Blue Alcohol Markers.  I then adhered a second Outdoor Denim mat and overlaid it with a scalloped layer, with a piece of the Outdoor Denim Chevron Ribbon.  I used a fancy cricut cut, and layered circles in Outdoor Denim and White Daisy which is 3D foam popped.  The Thank You is stamped in Outdoor Denim, and colored with Indian Corn Blue.  See I told you my favorite color is Blue.

Please head on over to Atlantic Hearts and check out the Design Team Creations.

Can never have enough Birthday Cards AHSC #32

So here is my story.....my oldest daughter, Jaymee, has been invited to yet another birthday party, actually she has 2 coming up this weekend.  On Saturday, Jaymee went looking through my birthday card stash to discover that I didn't have very many girly birthday cards.  So, Jaymee and I dug through my hoard of paper, and she choose what she liked, and I decided to use this weeks sketch for the design.

    Here is the sketch:
    Here is the card:
For this card, which came together in about 5 mins, we stamped the sentiment in Ruby on White Daisy CS, which is matted on Cotton Candy CS.  Using a strip of Pear Chantilly pattern ontop of Sunset CS and the bold print of Chantilly paper.  Boom!  5 minute birthday card.  The bonus is too, that Jaymee is super excited, because I let her put this one together.  So really I can't take credit for the card, but the sketch is all mine.

I hope you enjoyed this card, and will take the time to visit our Sketch Challenge and check out the Design Team's creations.  Click here to see the entrants so far this week.

My creation is this 6*6 Canvas Display.  I used all 6 stamps from this set in various Pigment Ink colors.  One of my friends little sister is having her first baby, and she had popped over and asked me to make something that can be hung in the baby's nursery.  So this was a group effort, as my daughter wanted to help too.

Deck The Halls for Sketch #31

This weeks sketch I had such a vision for it, but when the time came for me to create it, nothing was working the way I wanted it too.  So now I was stumped, what was I going to create.  Here is this weeks sketch:

I think I made about 3 different cards before I was happy with the final product. Here is my card:

I started with a Colonial White Cardbase, and added a neutral patterned design from the retired Mistletoe paper.  /I then fussy cut out the Holly from the reverse side of paper, and placed them in a random pattern.  I distressed the whole card with Chocolate Ink, and then stamped the sentiment from Yuletide Greetings(D1553) in New England Ivy.  I layered the sentiment onto Cranberry CS and 3D Foam popped the sentiment.  Added a bow in some gold twine I had on hand to finish it off.

I hope you have time to grab a cup of java, and to hop on over to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog where you can see the amazing creations from our Design Team.

Silver's and Blues make a pretty card

My sketch for this weeks Challenge was suppose to be followed exactly as sketched, and using the Love Doily, however, my idea changed as our first entrant this week had made my card as I had envisioned it.  LOL!

So, I'm back to square one, I still want to stick with the rectangle shape, and cut my card base so that it measures 3 1/2" by 8".  The base is cut from White Daisy CS.  Next I took the large snowflake from the Stamp set Snowflakes(D1480) and stamped it with Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with Silver Embossing powder.  Next using a mixture of different snowflakes I stamped around the embossed snowflakes in Crystal Blue Ink and Twilight Ink, both were stamped in first and second generation.

To finish the card off, I added a strip of Silver Shimmer Trim, and the Sentiment comes from Yuletide Greetings (D1553), which is stamped in Twilight Ink.

This size card is perfect for a cash card.....and who doesn't like receiving cash at Christmas!!!

Please remember to go check out the design team's creations now over on the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

I've made 2 projects for this blog hop, but projects feature cuts found on our Cricut Cartridges.  I actually used all 3 cartridges to create these projects.

For this cute project, I used the box found on the Artiste, and sized it to cut at 4".  I was able to fit 8 Hershey Nuggets into the box perfectly.  The tag is from the Artbooking cartridge, and coordinates with the stamps found on the Santa Claus stamp set found in the Holiday Gift Guide.  The paper, is my absolute favorite, Sparkle & Shine.

This second project is a cut found on the Art Philosophy Cartridge.  It is a cute little frybox.   I just used the same tag shape and stamp and packaged up some striped mint candy and tossed inside.

Holly Jolly Christmas Card for Sketch #29

I am so in the Christmas spirit.  I can't help it, I've been designing so many fabulous creations to sell at the markets and craft fairs.  I really love the Believe paper from s few years ago now, it was before my time but I was able to snag a few bulk paper packets.

    Here is my sketch:
    Here is my card:

So for this card, I made my own background for the bottom half of the card, using the colour Sky which is found in the Believe paper.  So I did tone on tone, stamping the snowflakes and dots all in Sky ink on the Sky CS.  The sentiment is stamped in Black ink, and all the stamps are from the Frosted Card Workshop.  The ribbon is retired, as well as the Believe Paper.  The buttons are clear actually, and I coated them in Sky pigment ink, and clear embossed them.

You can find more information about my upcoming classes here, and which local markets/craft fairs I will be at here.

So now that you have seen my creation, won't you pop on over to the Sketch Challenge and see what the Design Team has in store for you.

Flowers and songbirds for Sketch #28

This week I really enjoyed making my card for my sketch featured on Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Incase you are new to following my blog, my bestie Darla Haverstock, and myself have a Sketch Challenge where every Monday morning we provide a new sketch to be played with.  On Wednesday's we post the Top 3 entrants from the previous week, and we post the Design Teams creations.  I create the sketches, along with some sketches provided by the members of the design team, and Darla does the digital work, she is my techie guru!

So this is the sketch for this week:

Here is my card for this sketch:

I started with the For Always paper, and used the technique direct ink to the paper, by taking my ink pad and swiping it over the paper I was able to die it Cotton Candy.  The sentiment is stamped with Black Ink on White Daisy CS, which is matted on a piece of Black CS.  The images are stamped with Cotton Candy in 2nd generation.  These images and the sentiment are from Hello Tweety(B1410).  The flower and leaves are from the retired stamp set Friendship Blessings (D1191).  This stamp set has outline stamps, and solid stamps, which create these beautiful flowers.  The outline is stamped in Hollyhock, and the solid is stamped in Cotton Candy.  The leaves are done the same way.  I've done them in 2 different tones.  Outlined in Topiary and solid stamped with Pear, and outlined with Pear, and solid stamped with Sweet Leaf.  I've added some Pink bling which is now retired  to dress it up some.

Here are some close-ups of the stamping and of the flowers.

    Pear & Partridge Christmas cards

I still have a few sheets kicking around from last season's paper, and made a few cards to sell at the markets this season.  Here are a few that I made so far.

This one I cut tags from the Art Philosophy cartridge and then using the New Frameworks Alphabet Stamp set(E1027) I stamped out the letters to spell Noel, and coloured them in using our Alcohol Markers.
This one is made using a retired stamp set called Season of Spendor(D1326) .  The leaves and berries are stamped directly onto the paper, the pinecone was stamped then trimmed and adhered, and the Cardinal was stamped, trimmed and popped using 3D foam tape.
For this card, I used the New Stamp set Candyland(D1557), the sentiment is stamped right onto the paper, I stamped the images onto a piece of scrap paper, and coloured the candycane, trimmed them out, and adhered to the card.
For this final card, I used the stamp set Yuletide Greetings (D1553).  Using the holly leaves I stamped a tone on tone on the cranberry to create my own background.  I stamped the image and coloured it using the Alcohol Markers and fussy cut it out, and adhered to the mat.  The sentiment is stamped in Archival Black Ink, and I used the black Shimmer trim to finish the card.

These cards are available for purchase along with other items, you can find them all here.

    A Little Ho Ho Ho

Today I'm sharing a card that I made using the New Sparkle & Shine Paper, and the Mini Stamp HoHoHo. My inspiration comes from a card made by Vicki Wizniuk, you can find her version here.

I hope you like this, as I had so much fun playing with the scallop border punch and the Red Shimmer Trim.

    Here is my card:

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring Novembers SOTM, which is Illuminate, a set of 15 stamps.  If you have come here from Pam's Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here

This month we have approximately 54 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

I started by stamping out the lamp-post and lantern.  To do the lantern, I actually started with the 2 tones of yellow for the light.  I used Buttercup and Honey.  I used a combination of stamping and shading with Alcohol Markers.  Then using Black Ink I stamped over the light.  I then fussy cut out the image.  Using my Art Philosophy cartridge, I cut out this oval, and using my Buttercup Alcohol Marker made these rays of light come shining out from behind the lantern. Using tombow, I adhered this oval onto a piece of Sarita, which I really like the effect as it looks like the light is breaking through the darkness.  This is all mounted on a Goldrush Cardstock.  The lamp-post and lantern are popped using 3D foam tape.  The sentiment fits perfectly and is stamped in Black Ink.

    Products Used:

    Illuminate SOTM (S1311)
    Sarita Paper (X7171B)
    Goldrush CS (1243)
    White Daisy CS (1385)

Color My Heart - Color Dare Guest Designer

I am so honoured to be asked to be a guest designer over at Color My Heart.  These ladies create amazing artwork each and every week, and schedule permitting, I try to enter as often as I can.

I was given the challenge to create a piece of artwork using Black, White and CTMH Green.  Well, CTMH has many greens, Sweet Leaf, Olive, New England Ivy, Pear, Ponderosa Pine and Topiary.  Which green would I choose?

Well, I decided to keep this a pretty Clean and Simple card.  I started with a Black cardbase measuring 5*7.  Next I ran some White Daisy through my cuttlebug.  I used some more Black to create a mat for my ribbon, and used the Scallop Border Punch to create the scallops on both top and bottom.  I coloured the Color-Ready Seam-Binding Ribbon using the Topiary Alcohol Markers.  Finally I used the Get Well sentiment from Sincere Expressions and stamped it in Topiary Ink.  It is matted on Black cardstock continuing the scalloped border on the mat.

Don't forget to visit Color My Heart to see the Design Team's work, and don't forget to get inky and link up to this challenge.

    Peace & Joy Sketch #27

So Tuesday evenings are when I normally finish up my card and get all the posts done.  I'm actually writing this post minutes before it goes live as I was in so much pain and so sleepy after linking up, that I couldn't type.
I ended up rolling my ankle last night when picking my oldest up from girl guides.  After we got home and got the kids in bed,I iced it,(it's not broken, and thank goodness).  Enough of my woes,  here is the sketch for this week, #27:

Here is my card, and I deviated away from the placement of the sentiment once again.....but it really works with this layout.
I used the retired Mistletoe paper and  the stamp set from the Frosted Card WOTG.  I stamped the image in Olive in 1st and 2nd generation.  The sentiment is stamped in Cocoa.  I used the Cranberry Alcohol Marker to colour the ribbon....and this is my finished card.

Don't forget to visit our Sketch Challenge Blog, Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, so you can see all the wonderful creations created by our Design Team.  They really do great work.

    Polar Bear Christmas Swing Cards

Recently I had seen some cards made by my US adopted sister CardMonkey Jarvis whom I had the pleasure of meeting at CTMH Convention this past summer in Florida.  She had made a swing card using the Polar Bear Holiday Stamp Set, and it got me into the mood to cut some swing cards off the CTMH Artiste cartridge.

I tried 2 different cuts, and used the Frosted paper and the new Holiday paper Sparkle & Shine.

I really think they turned out really sweet.  If you would like to be able to make these cards, you can purchase all the supplies from my website here.

Sketch #26 and a Birthday card for my Nan

Killing 2 birds with one stone this week.  My nan's birthday is coming up next week, actually it falls on Halloween....and if that isn't cool enough, she has s twin sister....

Anyway, I have chosen to make a birthday card using the Frosted paper and I really like how it turned out.

    Here is the sketch:

I actually didn't follow my own sketch right to a tee this time......I didn't like the sentiment below the ribbon, so I placed it above and liked how it looked much better.  Here is my finished project.

I really like the look of Twilight and Crystal Blue with the frosted paper, and blue just happens to be my favourite colour.
Here are a few close-ups of the flowers and ribbons....just so you can see the dimension of the flowers.

    Supplies:

    Card Chatter- Birthday (D1475)
    You Only Live Once (B1434)

Sparkle & Shine Advent Calendar/Blog Hop

I'm entering this Advent Calendar in the Holiday Gift Guide Blog Hop, you can find my first entry here.

Last year I bought the advent calendar workshop from CTMH.  Life got in the way and I never got around to making it.  I kept promising myself that I would do it and have it ready for this year with plenty of time left.

Well, I did make an advent calendar, but I didn't use the workshop....I used the new Sparkle & Shine Paper(X7176B) and the Magical Days Stamp set(D1552). I used the coordinating colours for my inks, Juniper, Ruby and Slate to stamp my images, and with lots of fussy cutting and foam tape assembled my boxes.

You can see from the above photo that I spent many hours making the boxes, and assembling them. Here you will see some close ups of some boxes.

So finally here is my finished Advent Calendar, I hope you enjoyed seeing the process I went through in the making of my Family Advent Calendar.

If you like my Advent Calendar and would like to make one of your own, please contact me to join my Advent Calendar Workshop, or if you would like to make one on your own, you can purchase the supplies needed from my website.

    What Friends are For...

This week Anna-Carin has provided us with an awesome sketch.  I hope you will take the time to join us and play along.  Here is her sketch:

This sketch had me perplexed for a bit, but then a vision popped into my head as I spotted the retired Designer Red Ribbon.

Here is what I came up with:

I started with Sorbet Cardstock, and stamped in Sorbet Ink the little flower from the Words of Comfort Stamp Set (C1524) in a random pattern.  Using the same stamp set and ink, I choose the sentiment and stamped it on a piece of White Daisy Cardstock and matted it on a piece of Chocolate Cardstock.  Then I cut some flowers using the Art Philosophy Cartridge which matches the stamp from the Lucy Workshop Stamp Set.  I stamped the outline in Chocolate Ink, and then the solid image in Sorbet and added some highlight colours in Hollyhock, Cranberry and Ruby using the Alcohol Markers.

I hope you like my card, and take the time to hop over to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog to see what the design team has some up with.  Don't forget to leave some love, I enjoy reading your comments.

There is an awesome promotion that CTMH is offering that runs from October 15/13 until December 31/13.  When you have an order reach $100,  you qualify for a FREE Star item(items that are marked with a star in the Gift Guide).  So if you spend $200 you will receive 2 FREE items.

For my project I decided to make a card using the new paper packet found in the gift guide, Sparkle & Shine (X7176B).  I started with a piece of Slate CS for my mat, and then added a piece of the Ruby Pattern paper.

Then using the Santa Claus Stamp Set (C1567) I stamped this cute Santa Claus on White Daisy Cardstock in Black Ink and then In Ruby Ink.  I then cut out all of Santa's suit and paper pieced it onto the Santa stamped in Black.  Then using my Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel(Z1313) I added that to Santa's suit.  After I finished Santa, I used 3D foam tape to pop that and the sentiment, which is stamped in Slate Ink and matted on Juniper Cardstock.    The second patterned paper you see, is one I made myself using the border stamp found in this set.  I stamped it in Slate, Juniper and Ruby Ink, then matted it on Juniper Cardstock.

So, if you would like to get your crafty hands on this paper and stamp set, and your own copy of the Mini Holiday Gift Guide you can contact me, if you can't wait to get your own copy of the gift guide, you can find it here.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, then you've found the first stop on our Cross Canada Hop.

For my project I made the headband (Z1878).  I used the Juniper Vine pattern from the Sparkle & Shine Textiles (Z1884) and the Lagoon Houndstooh Washi Tape (Z1850).  I wrapped the Washi Tape around the headband to cover the band itself.  Then cutting a piece of textile about 2"x 14" I folded the cut edges in and adhered it to a large Adhesive dot (Z1903).  Then beginning to twist the fabric tightly, I wound it into a rosette.  Once I had covered the adhesive dot, I then peeled it off the carrier sheet, and adhered it to a second adhesive dot and placed it on the metal plate on the headband.  You can see how to make the rosette here in this video for the Base and Bling Necklace Kit.

Your next stop on the Cross Canada Hop is Krista of " Simply Creating Together.  If you get lost along the way, you can head back here, as I have provided a full list of our hoppers.

    Love & Joy Cardinal

I'm entering the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge for this week.  The challenge is to use Cranberry and 1 other colour.  I choose Olive, and used the To You and Yours stamp set (B1403) as well as some patterned paper from the retired Pear & Partridge paper line from last season.

I hope you like my card, and will pop on over to check out the other creations on their site.
